My work stems from an interest in the human figure as a synthesis of the emotional, the psychological, and the physical. In particular, I focus on representing the woman as an integral being biological, social, and symbolic. Through painting, I investigate how the absence or distortion of basic and emotional needs can influence the construction of both individual and collective identity.
These reflections are grounded in humanistic psychology especially Abraham Maslow’s theory of human needs and in studies on the female condition within contemporary visual culture. I also find affinities with artists who have approached the body as a territory of experience and memory, such as kiki Smith and Jenny Saville. In my practice, the body functions as a space of transformation rather than as an object of contemplation.
From my personal experience marked by introspection, early motherhood, and periods of vulnerability I have observed how certain social contexts tend to promote ideals of perfection that can distance women from their most human dimension. My work seeks to reveal this tension between vulnerability and strength, between what is expected and what we truly are.
The presence of animals and natural symbols in my paintings reflects my interest in the instinctive as a vital force. Through them, I propose a connection between the physical and the spiritual, understanding art as a means to recognize and transform the human experience.
